Tap Handle Decals: Do you Brew?

In Product News, Stickers, Custom Decals

According to The Growler, a well-circulated craft beer publication in BC, there are currently 172 + craft breweries operating in British Columbia alone, twenty-two of which opened just last year in 2018. This is mere foam, of course, to the scene in California where in 2017 the California Craft Brewers Association stated the following:

Wow. The craft beer industry has been booming since the 1990’s but if you ask the steady purveyors making a go of it, the expansion of new breweries has amped up in the last decade – and it’s not really showing signs of saturation yet!

With all this compounding competition, branding is a big component to successful entry into this market. Obviously, making good beer is critical, but nowadays it isn’t enough. Many craft breweries and keen start-ups are investing in graphic designers, marketers and branding agencies to launch themselves onto the scene with a fresh, original and consistent look, trying to appeal to the target market of steadfast beer drinkers as well as attract an untapped, yet potentially persuadable audience.

As an extension of branding, it is also critical to ensure that a new beer business’ packaging and promotional materials are on point! Tap handle decals are emerging as an important niche product in the custom printing world, and as a new craft brewery, you don’t want to settle for any old tap handle when there’s an opportunity to get your beer noticed at the tap.

Full-color printing, custom shapes, reflective materials, vibrant inks, domed or laminated, there are many options available to create a beautiful tap handle decal that is not only true to your branding but will also withstand the elements of a busy bar environment. A tap handle decal needs to be resistant to moisture and mild chemicals; it needs to stick without peeling or curling at the corners and withstand frequent abrasion without fading or cracking. A tap handle can be made from wood, metal, carbon fiber or plastic so an adhesive that will adhere steadfast to these surfaces is a must. It also needs to be cost effective and available at small quantities, since keeping beer fresh with seasonal releases and new brews is also key to keeping the target audience interested.
